Efficient Asset Management in Adobe Apps Using CI HUB Connector

In this guide, we explain how to manage assets efficiently across Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator using the CI HUB Connector. By following these steps, you can access and edit assets stored in your cloud storage or DAM systems in all three systems.
 

 

 

Adobe InDesign

  1. Connecting to Storage and DAM Systems:
    • Open Adobe InDesign.
    • Connect to your cloud storage and DAM systems via the CI HUB panel.
  2. Placing Assets from Different Sources:
    • Select a placeholder in your InDesign layout.
    • Switch to your DAM system within the CI HUB panel.
    • Choose an image (e.g., a Photoshop document) and place it into your layout.
    • You will be able to place native Illustrator files by selecting it from the DAM system and positioning it in your layout.
  3. Switch to Photoshop for Image Adjustments:
    • Select the placed image in InDesign.
    • Open Adobe Photoshop and check out the image from the DAM system via CI HUB.

 

Adobe Photoshop

  1. Editing an Image:
    • Open the image in Photoshop.
    • Make the necessary adjustments you want.
    • Save the changes.
  2. Checking In the Updated Version:
    • In the CI HUB panel, choose to check in the new version.
    • Leave a comment if needed and click "OK" to replace the existing version in the DAM system.
  3. Switch Back to InDesign:
    • Return to Adobe InDesign to see the updated image.

 

Adobe Illustrator

  1. Editing an Illustrator File:
    • Open Adobe Illustrator.
    • Access the same unified user interface via the CI HUB panel.
  2. Updating the Asset:
    • Make changes to the Illustrator file (e.g., update text or graphics).
    • Use the CI HUB panel to check in the updated version.
    • Leave a comment and click "OK" to create the new version in the DAM system.
  3. Switch Back to InDesign:
    • Return to Adobe InDesign to see the updated Illustrator file.

 

Managing Linked Assets in InDesign

  1. Check Linked Assets:
    • In the CI HUB panel, check for linked assets in your InDesign document.
    • Look for warning symbols indicating newer versions are available.
  2. Preview and Relink Assets:
    • Click on the plus symbol to enlarge the preview of the newer version.
    • Click "Relink" to update the asset in your InDesign layout.
    • Repeat this process for each asset with available updates.
  3. Batch Relink:
    • Use the batch mode to check and renew all linked assets in your document with a few clicks.
